What Is A Pendant Light Fixture?

- Aug 31, 2019-

A pendant light, sometimes called a drop or suspender, is a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod. Pendant lights are often used in multiples, hung in a straight line over kitchen countertops and dinette sets or sometimes in bathrooms.

Can I mount a ceiling light on the wall?

Most of our ceiling lights can be wall mounted. It is not recommended in the case of heavy layered-glass ceiling lights, such as Duplex.

How do I choose a pendant light?

Modern pendant lights should be hung at a height that doesn't block the view across the kitchen, while providing practical lighting for tasks. Typically 30 to 36 inches above countertops is a safe distance. Measure from the bottom of the fixture to the surface area below.

How do you change a flush mount light to a pendant light?

Unscrew the nipple and the glass like you are going to change the light bulb. Unscrew the light fixture from the hardware mount then unscrew the wire nuts and remove the wiring. Install the new mount (usually two screws) and insert the new wiring into the wire nuts and mount the new light.
